Award-Winning Brownkind Celebrates Excellence Beyond Skincare

This week, Brownkind made history at the New York Association of Black Journalists (NYABJ) Gala with the launch of the Brownkind Luminary Award, the first major journalism prize presented by a skincare brand. The inaugural honor was awarded to acclaimed journalist and health advocate Robin Roberts, in recognition of her powerful storytelling and longstanding impact.

 

The award reflects Brownkind’s continued commitment to uplifting melanin-rich skin and the communities it represents. While known for clinically developed skincare rooted in science, the brand also works to shift narratives in spaces where people of color have historically been underrepresented, including the media.

 

Brownkind’s co-founders, Drs. Gauri and Abhijit Desai, bring over 50 years of combined clinical experience to their work.
